Jan Baross

Jan Baross’s career began with painting, then documentary filmmaking and photography. Her film “Pioneer Women” premiered on A&E Channel. She taught filmmaking at Oregon State. She wrote award winning plays and screenplays and worked as a newspaper film critic.

“Jose Builds a Woman,” her first novel garnered first place for fiction Kay Snow Awards. Blurbed by Ursula Le Guin, thumbs up.

She was librettist for an opera based on her play, “Mata Hari,” that opened in Dallas, Texas.

She has finished her new novel/fictional memoir, “Bye-Bye Bakersfield.”
