Heather Whited
Heather Whited lives in Portland, Oregon and teaches at Portland State University. She graduated from Western Kentucky University in 2006 with a degree in creative writing and later worked in Japan and Ireland before relocating to the Pacific Northwest from her hometown of Nashville, Tennessee. She has been featured in the literary magazines Lingerpost and Straylight and is a contributor to The Drunk Odyssey podcast. In 2015, she received an honorable mention in Gemini Magazine‘s annual short story contest.

I am lucky enough to live in downtown Portland blocks from Powell’s City of Books,
What book made the biggest impression on you as a kid?
Roald Dahl’s Matilda; I later saved up my allowance money to go see the movie when it was made. Matilda happens also to be my dog’s name as an adult.
Besides writing, what’s your passion?
Animals and traveling! Also, potato based foods.
